About Me

Compassionate and supportive, Dr Hodgson is an Obstetrician, Gynaecologist and Fertility Specialist with a keen interest in endometriosis related infertility.

Ruth is a local to the FNQ region and completed her undergraduate training at James Cook University in both Townsville and Cairns, graduating in 2007. She commenced obstetrics and gynaecology training in Sydney in 2011 and during this time also worked in Auckland, New Zealand before returning to Cairns to complete her final year. Since then she has worked as a specialist obstetrician gynaecologist at Cairns Hospital. During her time in New Zealand she had the opportunity to gain further experience in caring for couples undergoing fertility treatment while working in a dedicated fertility clinic associated with Auckland City Hospital.

Following undertaking her RANZCOG membership exams she was awarded the RANZCOG medal for outstanding achievement and is undertaking the Masters of Reproductive Medicine through the University of New South Wales.

She is dedicated to providing holistic, patient centred care with a supportive and compassionate approach, working alongside Dr Anne Coffey at QFG in Cairns. She has an interest in endometriosis related infertility, having published Rea search in this area, as well as recurrent pregnancy loss and unexplained infertility.

She has personal experience with infertility, as both her girls were conceived through IVF. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with family, exploring our local region camping and spending time gardening.
